Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conduct a common written examination (CRPSPL-IV) for the recruitment of Specialist Officers cadre in 19 public sector banks and Participating Organisations. IBPS Specialist Officers Selection Process is based on Online Objective type Test and Personal Interview. In this article we will discuss about IBPS Specialist Officers exams syllabus, Pattern & Eligibility Criteria.

IBPS Specialist Officers Exam Pattern : IBPS Specialist Officers Exam is a 2 hour Online examination and will have 200 objective type Questions for you to solve. The above tests except the Test of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi. The structure of the Online CWE will be as follows…

  • Type of Questions : Online Objective Type
  • No. of Questions : 200 Questions
  • Time Duration : 2 Hours (120 Minute)
  • Negative Marking : 0.25 Marks deducted for Wrong answer.

This time the exam is going to be online. This exam consists of the following sections.

Law Officer- Scale I & Rajbhasha Adhikari Scale I : 

  • Reasoning : 50 Marks
  • English Language : 25 Marks
  • General Awareness with special reference to Banking Industry : 50 Marks
  • Professional Knowledge : 75 Marks

IT Officer Scale I, Agricultural Field Officer Scale I, HR/ Personnel Officer Scale I &Marketing Officer Scale I :

  • Reasoning : 50 Marks
  • English Language : 25 Marks
  • Quantitative Aptitude : 50 Marks
  • Professional Knowledge : 75 Marks


IBPS Exam Syllabus for Specialist Officers CRPSPL-IV : The IBPS Specialist Officers Exam is the most popular exam among the all exams conducted by IBPS . Now lets have a look at the detailed syllabus of CRPSPL-IV Exam….

First Section – Test of Reasoning :

First section will be Logical Reasoning means the process of forming judgement conclusions from premises or facts. The question in this section may be based on Verbal and Non-Verbal.

  • Number series
  • Letter & symbol series
  • Statement and argument
  • Logical problems
  • Verbal reasoning
  • Blood relations
  • Coding-decoding
    Number ranking
  • Making judgments etc.

Non-Verbal means :

  • Series completion
  • Finding any missing figure
  • Classification.

Second Section – English Language :
Second section of is English language. It is one of the most important languages because it is wider and useful in all over the world, so the managing committee wants to select only those candidates who are capable of understand English. The questions in this section may be asked from the topics

  • Antonyms
  • Verb
  • Error Correction
  • Tenses
  • Sentence Rearrangement
  • Fill in the Blanks with Modals, Articles etc
  • Comprehension

Third Section – Quantitative Aptitude :

Third section is Quantitative Aptitude in this question will have five multiple-choice answers. The question in this selection may be based on two topics like as Arithmetic and Data Interpretation.

  • Number System

  • Ratio and Proportions
  • Percentage
  • Time and Distance
  • Profit and Loss

  • Statistics
  • Mensuration etc.

Fourth Section – General Awareness :

Fourth section is General Awareness. These questions are not based on any specific study but related to current affairs(with special reference to Banking Industry).

  • Budget & Plans
  • Sports
  • Books and Authors
  • Awards and Honors
  • Science Inventions and Discoveries

Fifth Section – Professional Knowledge :

This paper will include questions based on the post they are applied for, Expect questions in graduation level, a good reference of text books in your degree class with some current affairs on the subject will make things easy. The following areas are considered important based on the previous year examinations.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • For I.T. Officer (Scale I) : 4 year Engineering Degree in Computer Science/ Computer Applications/ Information Technology/ Electronics/ Electronics & Telecommunications/ Electronics & Communication/ Electronics & Instrumentation OR Post Graduate Degree in Electronics/ Electronics & Tele Communication/ Electronics & Communication/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Computer Applications OR Graduate having passed DOEACC ‘B’ level.
  • For Agricultural Field Officer (Scale I) : 4 year Degree (graduation) in Agriculture/ Horticulture/Animal Husbandry/ Veterinary Science/ Dairy Science/ Agri.Engineering/ Fishery Science/ Pisciculture/ Agri Marketing & Cooperation/ Co-operation & Banking/ Agro-Forestry.
  • For Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale I) : Post Graduate Degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the degree (graduation) level OR Post graduate degree in Sanskrit with English and Hindi as subjects at the degree (graduation) level.
  • For Law Officer (Scale I) : A Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) and enrolled as an advocate with Bar Council.
  • For HR/Personnel Officer (Scale I) : Graduate and Full time Post Graduate degree or Full time Post Graduate diploma in Personnel Management / Industrial Relations/ HR/HRD/ Social Work / Labour Law.
  • For Marketing Officer (Scale I) : Graduate and Full time MBA (Marketing) / Full time 2 years PGDBA / PGDBM with specialization in Marketing.

Age :

  • Minimum : 20 years
  • Maximum : 30 years

Age of Relaxation :

  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe : 5 years
  • Other Backward Classes : 3 years
  • Persons With Disability : 10 years
